This Happy Halloween Monster Wreath is so easy to make! And, man I love me some googly eyes. These bad boys were, literally, staring at me on a Michael’s trip a few weeks back, and instantly I pictured this furry little thing come to life. I envisioned orange feathers, but Michaels didn’t have orange boas in stock, so I ordered a couple from Amazon (linked below). Everything else we found at Michaels, or we had at home. Super easy, super fast, hysterical to look at each morning. I call her “oh hey!” because she has perma-surprised face 🙂 My 8 year old named her “put a boo on it” her reasoning? “You know, like put a bow on it? Your favorite thing to say!” Ha, raisin’ ’em right!
(sidenote: we’ve placed googly eyes on all kinds of random objects throughout our house, the kids laugh hysterically when they find them.)
Supplies Needed
1. Hot glue the feather boas around the wreath. (tie a ribbon around the wreath form first if you intend to use it for hanging.)
2. Remove the sticker backing on the googly eyes and hot glue a popsicle stick to each, leaving enough room to stick them into the wreath. You could have some fun with this and make them stick up further, or do one big monster eye (with a fuzzy green boa, how cute would that be!)
3. Stick the popsicle stick eyes into the top of the wreath.
4. Next we grabbed some black construction paper and cut out spiky eyelashes (everything we make or draw in this house has eyelashes). It was fun showing my 4 year old how you can cut all of the eyelash triangles out from the edge, and then you can just cut the next row off all at once. She was amazed. Pretty sure she thinks I’m magic. Pretty sure I let her believe it.
5. This part was super easy because the eyeballs had a sticky backing, we just placed them on the back of the eyes one by one, alternating short and tall for fun.
6. Stick the witch’s hat into the wreath, on top of one of the big ‘ol eyeballs.
TADA!
We hung ours up on the pantry door with a command clip.
This project took us all of, maybe 15 minutes to put together. YAY for that!
