I began my search for a dry broken hair fix a couple of years ago, after a very stressful period in my life. I had no idea that stress could have such a significant impact on my hair, but I learned the hard way that it does. I tried all of the popular hair products, no matter the cost, and took all the biotin and omega supplements available in the market. I exercised regularly, drank plenty of water, and did everything I could think of, but still had minimal results. However, what ultimately made the biggest difference was a combination of fixing my hard water situation and using expensive hair products that actually work.
Shower Head for Shinier Hair
After many trials and errors, I found the perfect shower head that filters out all the unwanted minerals that cause build-up, and weigh down hair until it breaks. This showerhead is reasonably priced and does an excellent job of filtering hard water. Moreover, it provides the best water pressure settings, making it easier to control the flow of water while washing your hair. The little clicky thing on the side of the shower head is much simpler to maneuver than the traditional ones that require you to grip and turn while your hands are covered in shampoo, soap, or conditioner.
The Best Shampoo and Conditioner for Dry Broken Hair
To be completely honest, I was beginning to wonder if any product would actually do the trick, and then I tried Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo. It was at the very top tier of what I was willing to spend, but since it had amazing reviews, I was able to easily have it here same day on Amazon, and the price was the same everywhere I looked, I bit the bullet and ordered it. I also ordered the Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Conditioner, and the Oribe Imperial Blowout Transformative Styling Spray. Because, why not? At this point I was desperate to find something that would fix my sad, broken hair. And y’all? I had crazy thick, shiny, healthy hair down to the middle of my back before these stressful years hit. It didn’t matter what products I used, it was just healthy. Being in a place where I have to rely on products until my cortisol levels even out again, this search was intense.
I was cautiously optimistic, but all of the Oribe products are amazing. ALL the stars, highly recommend it. After using them just one time I could tell a huge difference. My little broken pieces were smoothed, my hair felt soft, and it styled so easily. I’ve used it for a few weeks now, and can absolutely justify the expense for these results.
Shark FlexStyle
Another game changer has been using the Shark FlexStyle. I have friends who purchased the Dyson and returned it because they didn’t like it, but had heard nothing but amazing things about the Shark FlexStyle. It styles your hair with air, and you can control the heat, do a cool shot, it’s basically a baller hair dryer that also straightens, and curls your hair. I watched a million YouTube videos of people using it, and kind of wondered how easy it would be for me to figure out the curling aspect but the darn thing does it all for you. You section off your hair, and it wraps it around the curling attachment. It takes no time at all to curl, so your hair is exposed to heat for a much smaller amount of time, and you can turn the heat down, and my hair still curls. Prior to this, I was using a very hot curling iron to achieve the same result. I also love that you can curl your hair with it, lightly spray it with hairspray (this is my fav hairspray) and then brush it out and you’ll get that everyday wavy look that lasts.
Bonus: I’ve been able to curl and straighten both of my daughters’ hair in like five minutes, which they outgrew a long time ago, but I still love the quality time.
In Conclusion
I’ve found the overall cure here is less heat, less washing, less harsh products.
